HARBOUR BOARD.

THIS DAY. The Board met this morning. Present : Messrs. King (chairman), Shuttlewortb, Corkill, Connett, and Canington. Engineer's Report. — Mr. Rhind reported as follows: — "I have the honor to report on the work in hand during: the past fortnight as follows : Two 12 feet sections have been completed, and the foundations of two lower courses of blocks for another are laid. 39 blocks have been made. As last night I had only 12 casks of cement left, I considered it advisable to suspend all hands until the arrival of the Akaroa. I have still two divers employed seurching the bottom on the harbor side for any stones or other obstacles which might prove injurious to a vessel lying alongside." Balance Sheet. — The following is the approximate balance sheet to 15th April, 1885: — Assets: Fixed deposits, National Bank, £3000; Bank of New Zealand, £22,000; balance in Bank o£ New Zealand, £2742 12s. BJ. Total, £27,742 12s. 81; less present payments £637 2s. 4d. Balance, £27,105 10s. 4d. Deposit to Credit. — A letter was received from the Treasury announcing that £7 16s. 4J. wharfage had been placed to the Board's credit at the Bank of New Zealand. Coupons. — The Agent-General wrote enclosing cancelled coupons on £7,500 worth o£ New Plymouth Harbour Board debentures. Cement Supply. — A letter was read from the Dunedin Iron and Wood ware Company requesting that when cement was wanted by the Board tenders should bo called in the open market. Reply is to be given that arrangements for all supplies have already been made. Accounts. — £637 2a 4d was passed for payment. What appeared to be a boat upside down was Been in the offing this morning, but on going oft to it the object turned out to be a log of wood.
