VICTORIA AMATEUR TURF CLUB'S MEETING. SECOND DAyZoctober 18[beuter's copyright telegrams.] The Victoria Amateur Turf Club held a second day's racing at Caulfield on Saturday. The weather was cold and fine, though cloudy. There was a large attendance, including the Governor and suite. Caulfield Cdp, a handicap of 2000bovs.; 1300 soys. of the said sum to go to the first horse, in addition to a trophy value 200 guineas, the gift of Mr. Matthew O'Shanassy ; 500 soys. to the second, and 200 soys. to the third. One mile and a half. Mr. R. G. Talbot's eh m Blink Bonny, 6 years, 7st. 31bs 1 Mr. E. W. Ellis's eh h Lord Wilton, 4 years, 6st. lllbs ... 2 Mr. J. A. Lang's br h Vergy, 4 years, 7st. 71b 3 Twenty-eight horses came to the post. A capital start was effected, and Rapid at once went to the front and led past tho stand, followed by Yately, Vernet, Battalion, Lavington, Blink Bonny, Colstoun, Hastings, Signora, Claptrap, then came Lord Wilton, Vergy, and Bend Or; Just Clear, Capri, Martini-Henry, Despot, Malua, and Agent bringing up the rear. Opposite the Stewards' stand Signor fell, Yately joined Rapid at the turn, and the pair raced round the turn and up the hill, with Helene, Vergy, and Battalion at their keels. Just Clear, Claptrap, Martini, Despot, and Agent falling further to the .rear. Along the back of the course Yately was going with great vigor, and assumed the lead ; Rapid resigning second place in favour of Helene and Battalion. Martini had by this time fallen further in the rear. Passing the sod wall Rapid made a second effort, and joined Yately and Helene, the pace being terrific. At the turn Fryingpan and Colstoun made a resolute effort to get up, but failed ; and Lord Wilton and Blink Bonny assumed forward position. Turning into the straight Yately was done up, and Blink Bonny ran through and took tho lead. Rapid made another desperate effort to get up, but retired at a distance, and Lord Wilton, Hastings, and Vergy challenged Blink Bonny, who, however, held , the lead, and came in an easy winner by two lengths, Lord Wilton next, a length in front of Vergy, Malua fourth. Claptrap, Hastings, Helene, Fryingpan, Norfolk, Colstoun, Despot, Capri, and Martini next, Agent being last. Time, 2min. 42£secs. Betting at the post : Vergy, 3to 1 ; Colstoun, oto 1; Martini-Henry, 10 to 1 ; Hclone and Hastings, 12 to I ; Blink Bonny, 33 to 1. .
