THE RECIDIVISTE QUESTION. London, July 28. In the House of Commons to-day, the Hon. Evelyn Ashley, Colonial Under Secretary, in reply to a question stated that earnest representations had been made by England on the subject of the reoidiviste question which is now seriously occupying the attention of the French Government. ' * The Hon. E. Ashley added that th^ * Imperial Government would not interfere with any reasonable measures that might be adopted in the colonies for their self-protection against the iniliiK of criminals.
EGYPTIAN CONFERENCE. lii the House of Lords this afternoon, Earl Granville Foreign Secretary auuounced that an important point has arisen to-day at the Egyptian Conference which the English delegates found it necessary to refer to parliament.
