PREMIER'S VISIT SOUTH POSTPONED. Wellington, April 15. Major Atkinson who intended going South this evening, has postponed his departure for the present, but will probably leave in eight or ten days. ANOTHER FROZEN MEAT CARGO. • Ship Lady Jocelyn sailed for London to-day: She has a large cargo of frozen mutton. FIRE AT PALMERSTON. A fire took place this morning at Palmerston North, which destroyed an eight-roomed, house owned and occupied by Mrs. Coleman iv Ouba-street. Some of the furniture was saved, but the building was completely destroyed. Insurances on building £250 in New Zealand, and on furniture £150 in the same office. I ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE SHOCK. Wellington, April 16. A slight shock of earthquake was felt at Wellington at 6.27 this morning iv the direction of north-east to southwest. THE THORODON SEAT. Mr. Bunny, the candidate for the Thorndon seat, addressed a large meeting last night, and received an unanimous vote of confidence. 13ANU CONTEST AT OAMARU. Oamaru, April 15. 1 A band contest, iv which the Dunedill gamsou, Oamaru garrison, Dunedin navals, North Duuedin rifles, and Queenstown bands contestested, was won by the Oamaru band, Dunedin navals being second, and the Duuedin garrison third. FllllS IN DUNEDrN, Dunedin, April 15. Tho bottling house at McQraid, McGregor, and Smiths, brewery water of Leith, and some other ont-houses were burned yesterday morniug. The damage done is estimated at £1200. A large quantity of stock being destroyed, lusured for £UOO in Royal. A lighted fire had been left in the ' bottling house. CHILD SCALDED. Inyercargill, April 15. A girl aged four years, daughter of Powell, auctioneer, accidentally fell into a bath on Saturday evening and was very severely scalded, and died last night.
