LARGE FIRE.

[from our own correspondent]. March 4. — A fire occurred this morning in the shop of Brookes, the photographer, which extended on the one side to the premises of Suiter, the tailor, and on the other to Pitcher's, the watchmaker and jeweller. Mr. Suiter nearly lost his life, and Mrs. Pitcher narrowly escaped being suffocated by the smoke. The fire was got under before it had spread very far. The buildings were insured in Northern and National Companies for £400 ; Pitcher's stock and furniture in Colonial for £700 ; Suiter's in National for £200. Brookes, who is the principal loser, is uninsured.
