When sent there they were well clothed, cleau, and healthy; on being restored to their parents at Masterton recently they were ragged, filthy, crawling with lice, covered with sores, and with, dirt ingrained in the cracks of their skin. In tho morning, Mr. Street's son, aged 15, went out with a number of other lads rabbit shooting. Both parties wore to meet at the mine. The boys arrived first, and while in one of tho buildings, one of them, named Hawkes, accidentally discharged his gun, shooting young Street through tho head j causing almost instant death. Mr] Street, sen., arrived soou afterwards. '
