Mr. Furlong, one of the oldest settlers in the Patea District, has started on his third trip to the Old Country, leaving by the steamer yesterday. He goes via Sydney, in the steamer John Elder, a through passage ticket for £42 — first-class by Union steamer to Sydney ; second-class from thence Home. Mr. Furlong will have Mr. Chancy, the Hawera Postmaster, for a fellow-passenger ; and Mr. Eastwood, another resident of Hawera, is going with them.
