Money Securities.—s per cent. Consols remain at 10H. New Zealand securities aro quoted as follows :—s:—s per cent. 10.40 loan, WSi ; 5 per cent. 18S9 loan, 105.J; 4i per cent. 1879-1901 loan, 101 £ ; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 10Ii. Bank rate of discount remains at 3 per cent., and market rate 3 per cent. The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion is £14,800,000, an increase of £200,000 on the previous week. Proportion of reserve to liabilities remains at 47 per cent. Breadstuefs.—Adelaide wheat quoted at 453 6d ex store; and New Zealand wheat at 40s to 41s j Adelaide flour, ex store, 335. Tallow.—Australian tallow, dull, at 40a for best beef, and 4 Is for best nriltoa. Leather.—Best sides Australian leather are worth lid ; market firm. Flax.—The New Zealaud flix market continues quiet at the following quotations :— Fine quality, £30 pit ton; mciium, £28; common, £23. Wool.—The wool sales closed ou Wednesday (Oct. 3). The total quantity sold since opening of series is 300,000 bales, and 58,000 held over. Iv greasy wools a decline was suffered at the outset, but have since recovered and been in g^od demand. New Zealand wools—fleece and scoured wools closed at about Id lower tbaa the prices ruliog at the close of May and June Eories. Good and infer or scoured are Id to 1 lover; cross-breds rather higher thin at the" close oE June sales. The sales closed oi Thursday (Oct. 4). The bidding was dull. 68,000 bales have been bought in first hands.
