RAILWAY TO ROTORUA.

[per press association.]

Taubakga, September 19. — Intelligence has just been received here from Air. G. Vesey Stewart that he has arranged for the sale of the railway contract to a Syndicate in London. The construction of the railway to the Lakes is, therefore, certain.

The s.s. Northumberland, 2,000 tons, has been laid on for Auckland direct with settlers for Tauranga, sailing September 25; and immediately after a sailing vessel of 600 tons, now loading, will leave direct for Tauranga with railway plant, and navvies and their families.
