Moxet Securities. — Consols remain at 99J New Zealand securities remain at the following qnotations: — 5 per cnt. 10.40 loan. lO7J : 5 per cent. 1889 loan. 107 ; 4^ per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 100|. Bank rate of discount remains at 3 per cent., and market rate at 2f Bre\dstuffs. — Adelaide wheat declined to 48« (> ex <^ore ; and New Zealand do at 47s ; A-Mnide flour, ex store. 355. T\txow. — Australian tallow firm at 44s for +*•** bepf. and 45s 6d for best mntton. Wool.— The September series of wool sales commenced on Tnesday (Ansrust 22nd). The opening catalosae comprised 6,800 bales, for which fair competition was experienced. Faulty sconred rather neglected. Good qualities are werth abont the same as at the close nf last sales. For cross-breds and for inferior and f«nltv wools of all descriptions prices were barely maintained.
MELBOURNE— AUGUST 23. Breat>stuffs. — Maltin? barley it "dull, arH, unchanged at 5s Id to 5s 31 ; shipping wheat is in active demand at 6s lid to 7s;'beinff an advance of 2d on last week's prices. New Zealand oats steady at 3s 6d to 3* 8d for fpefling, and 3s 8d to 3s 9d for milling qualities
