MR. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT. At Saturday's sale, at the mart, bidding for poultry was not so active. A lot of furniture and Bnndries sold fairly. Timber. — At the timber sile, on Saturday, bidding was active, and anything like good staff sold at high rates. Scantling, siiort lengths, 2s 6d to ss ; ordinary, 53 to 8s ; boar-Is, 8s 6d to 11s 6d. Haymarket Yards. — Pigs came forward unusually freely, and found a ready sale, more especially for the larger sizes, they makine 14s 6d to 16a ; smaller ones, 53 to 93., and 2s 6.1 to 4s 61, according to quality. Horses : Only three were sold, at £2 145., £5 15s. and £7 10s respectively. Cattle. — At my fortnightly sale, at the Waiwakaiho, on Thursday, bidding at the auction was very slow, notwithstanding some good stuff being offered. It improved as the sale progressed, and the greater portion of the cattle were disposed of. Very few young cattle were yarded. Some well-bred heifers, in calf, made £5 to £5 10s ; 2-year-olds. £3 15s ; cows, in calf, £4 7s 6d ; cows, springing, £6 to £7 15s ; fat cows, £4 12s 6d to £G 7s 61; fat 2J to 3-year-old steers, £5 7s 6d to £5 10s ; 3 and 4-year-old do, £6 6s ; 1 bull calf, £4. Produce.— Potatoes, really first-class, meet with a quick sale at £4 10s ; but large quanti. •ties of ouly medium qnality are coming forward, and will not command more than £3 15s to £4. Carrots, £2. Onions are plentiful at Id to I^-d. Silt butter is unprocurable, having all been shipped to the Australian markets.
