NEWS OF THE WORLD. [reuter's teleqhams.] WOOL SALE. London, June 10. An active demand for most descriptions of wool was experienced at today's auction. The catalogue comprised 9900 bales. SIR H. PARKBS AT VBRVIERS. Brussels, June 10. Sir H. Parkes lias been jeted and entertained in this city and at Verviers. In his speeches on those occasions he expressed a hope that the commercial relations between Belgium and Australia would increase through the medium of free trade. Sir Henry had an interview to-day with M. Frere D'Orban, Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs. MURDEROUS ATTACK ON EUROPEANS AT ALEXANDRIA. Alexandra, June 10 (night). The Btrong ill-feeding of the native population of this city towards the Europeans manifested itself last evening in an attack by large bodies of the former upon several parties of English and other residents. In the affrays which took place, several Europeans were killed, including the engineer of H.M.S. Superb, and many were wounded, including the British Consul, who suffered a very severe injury. The disturbance was ultimately suppressed by the military being called out, when order was restored.
