WAITARA LICENSING COMMITTEE.
The Waitara Licensing Committee met at the Waitara Institute yesterday at 2 p.m. Present : Messrs. B\uek (chairman), Purdio and Irvine. Renewals. — The following renewals of licenses were granted : — W. Tutty, Bridge Hotel ; J. Holmes, Masonic Hotel ; H. S. Grimley, Waitara Hotel ; J. Piffott, Star Hotel, Urenui. Mr. Roy appeared for the four applicants, and as more convenience for escape in case of fire was required in the three last mentioned houses, he undertook on behalf of the licensees that it should bo provided to the satisfaction of the police. Accommodation House. — Mr. R. Collins applied for a renewal of his license for the Manutahi Hotel, as an accommodation house only, the hotel not being on a main road. — The license was granted, subject to the payment of a fee of £10. Analyst. — With reference to the request of the Chairman of the Oinata Licensing Committee, asking the co-operation of the Waitara Committee in the matter of getting a public analyst appointed for the district, it was resolved, " That the cordial co-oper-ation of the Waitara Committee be given." Certificates of License. — A discussion took place as to the payment of the license fees to the County Council. The Committee was unanimously of opinion that the fees should be paid to the Waitara Town Board, and not to the County Council. — It was resolved, " That the Clerk to this Committee forward duplicate certificates authorising the issue of licenses for the Bridge Hotel, Waitara Hotel, and Masonic Hotel, to the Treasurer of the Town Board of Raleigh ; also, that the £2 transfer fee in his charge since the last meeting be handed over to the same officer."
