GENERAL ROBERTS WITH HIS FORCE
HAS ARRIVED AT CA.NDAHAR.
ROBERTS ABOUT TO ATTACK AYOUB.

Calcutta, September 1. — Intelligence has been received here that General Eoberts, with his relieving force, arrived at Candahar yesterday, where he was joined by troops under Generals Burrows and Primrose.
Ayoub Khan remains with his army at Argaudab, to the north of Candahar, and has sent messengers to the British camp to endeavour to negotiate terms of peace 'with the British. Calcutta, September 1 (Evening). • — Later intelligence has just been received from Candahar that a difficulty has arisen, and negotiations for peace have been broken off. General Roberts has decided to attack Ayoub Khan, afc Argaudab, to-day.
