DEPARTURE OF GOVERNOR FIXED. Wellington, Augnst 19. His Excellency and Lady Robinson and suite leave Wellington for Sydney, en route to England, on the 3rd September. LATE ASSAULT CASE AT THE HUTI. Another deputation waited on the Minister of Justice to-day regarding the sentence passed on the schoolmaster Willis. In reply, Mr. Rolleston said the matter was under consideration. > FALL IN PRICE OF WOOL. Messrs. Murray, Roberts, & Co. have received a London wool telegram of the 17th August as follows :—"Marketdeclined 6to 7 per cent ; principal operators are borne buyers. 325,000 bales of wool catalogued. Next sales fixed to commence on 23rd November." THE KYEBURN MURDER. Wellington, August 20. A notice in the Gazette offers a free pardon to an accomplice who shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the murderer of Mrs. Young, at Kyeburn. DISCONTINUING THE VOLUNTEER SUBSIDIES. Nelson, August 19. At a volunteer inspection, Captain Bunny, commanding officer, asked for a decision whether the respective corps of the district would continue their services after the discontinuance of capitation to Artillery, City Rifles, Stoke Rifles, and Wairaea Rifles. It was decided, to a man, to continue their services. The Naval Brigade officers atated that their members had agreed to consider the matter at their half-yearly meeting next week. Till then only a few actually declared that they would continue, but from the way in which they stated this it appears they are resolved, but wished to discuss ways and means. CHARGE OF ILL-TREATMENT IN THE NELSON GAOL. Justices Curtis and Wells, who are to conduct an enquiry re Nelson gaol, met this morning, but adjourned till Atkinson, the late Warder, can be brought to Nelson. FIRE AT BLENHEIM. Blenheim, August 20. A large two-story building at Mount Pleasant was totally destroyad by fire on Tuesday night. The, only person in the house at the time was an old lady, who was not aware that anything was wrong until her ueighboars came to extinguish the flames. It is not known whether the building was insured. ILLICIT DISTILLATION. Dunedin, August 20. George McGasey and Thomas Taylor were fined £100 each, or twelve months' imprisonment, for illicit distillation. FIRE AT INYERC.vRGILL. Invercargill, August 19. A fire at Crosbie's farm, Wyndham, on Wednesday, destroyed two stacks of oats. A steam threshing machine was also injured.
