Auckland, August 19. The barqae Scottish Lassie, barque, has arrived from London, 94 days out. ASSAULT CASE AT THE HUTT. ! | Wellington, August 18. A deputation waited on the Minister of Justice this morning, in reference to the sentence of two months' hard labour passed yesterday on Wills, the schoolmaster, for assault. Mr. Bryce introduced ths deputation, which urged undue severity of the sentence, and spoke of the previous good character of the defendant. Mr. Rollestoti replied that he would take the matter into consideration. HARDWARE COMPANY. DONGDIN, August 19. At the annual meeting yesterday afternoon of the New Zealand Hardware Company a divideud of 8 per cent, was declared.
