NOTICE. ANY person or persona found INJURING the TELEGRAPH POSTS, WIRE INSULATORS, or any portions of the Telegraph Line, will be prosecuted in accordance with the following Clauses of " The Malioions Injuries to Property Act, 1867 :"— Clause XXXVll.— Whosoever shall unlawfully and maliciously ont, break, throw down, destroy, injure, or remove any battery, machinery, wire, cable, post, or other matter or thing whatsoever, being part of or being need or employed in or abont any Eleotrio or Magnetio Telegraph, or in the working thereof, or shall nnlawfally and malicioaoly prevent or obstrnot in any manner whatsoever the sending, oonveyanoe, or delivery ot any communication by any such Telegraph, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and, being convicted thereof, shall be liable, at the discretion of the Court, to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding two yearn, with or without hard labour : Provided that if it shall appear to any JoHtioe, on the examination of a«y person oharged with any offence against this section, that it is not expedient to the ends of justice that the same should be prose. outed by indictment, the Justioe may prooeec summarily to hear and determine the same, and the Offender Bhall on conviction thereof, at the disoretion of the Justioe, either be committed to some pnblio gaol there to be imprisoned only, or to be imprisoned and kept to hard labour for any term, not exceeding three months, or else shall forfeit aod pay such sum of money not exceeding tek pounds aat" the Justioe shall seem meet. Whosoever shall unlaw. folly and maliciously, by any overt aoc, attempt to commit any of the offences in the last preceding section mentioned, shall, on conviotion thereof before a Justice of the Peaoe, at the discretiou of the Justice, either be committed to any publio gaol there to be mprisoned only, or to be imprisoned and kept ';o habd labour for any term not exceeding three months, or else Bhall forfeit and pay such sum of money not exceeding ten pounds as to the Justice snail seem meet.
