LAND BOARD.

The Board met on Tuesday, at 11 a.m., when the Crown Lands Commissioner presided. Present: Messrs. Crompton, Standish, and Syme. Land set apart on Deferred Payment.— On the motion of Mr. Standish, seconded by Mr. Syme, it was resolved, " That sections in the Ngaire Block now standing open for selection on terms of deferred payment be withdrawn, and again declared open for selection at the prices placed against them each respectively." — The members then priced the sections. Date fixed fo* the Land being Opened for Selection. — It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Syme, seconded by Mr. Standish, " That with reference to a resolution on Monday and the previous resolution of to-day's meeting relative to sections in the Moa, Mangauui, and Ngaire Districts, the Board recommends that

the sections stated be declared open for selection on terms of deferred payment on the 7th August, at the Crown Lands Office, New Plymonth, and the District Land Office, Carlyle, at the upset prices stated in the list, and that in cases in which more than one application for any one section on the same day may be received, the sale shall be held at Hawera on 25th August by the Commissioner of Crown Lands. — On the motion of Mr. Standish, seconded by Mr. Syme, it was resolved "That the sections in the Moa and Manganui blocks for which more than one application may be received on auy day, be offered for sale by auction at the Crown Lands Office on the 21st August by the Commissioner." Applications to purchase. — T. W. Clarke was declared the purchaser of section 75a, block 1, Ngaire ; and James Thomson the purchaser of section 25, block 6, Ngaire. Time extended for Payment of Purchase Money. — Mr. Gane interviewed the Board relative to the non-payment of instalment due on Ist July for land purchased on deferred payment, when after considerable discussion on the subject, Mr. Syme moved, Mr. Stan dish seconded, and it was agreed to, " That this Board having heard Mr. Gave on the subject of non-payment of instalments of purchase money due on sections held by himself and brother on terms of deferred payment, and in consideration of the circumstances stated by him, agree that the time of payment of the fifth instalment on Ist July next shall be extended to January, 1881, with the underj standing that the fifth and sixth instalment I be then paid together." f The Board then adjourned till Wednesday. The Board met on Wednesday at 11 a.m., and adjourned till 2 p.m. Present: Chief Commissioner (chairman), Messrs. Crompton, Standish, and Syme. Issuing Licenses to Successful Competitors at Late Land Sale. — The CHAIRMAN read a letter from Captain Wray, the District Land Officer, conveying papers of the successful competitors at the auction of land on deferred payments, held on the 23rd June ; when Mr. Crompton moved, Mr. Standish seconded, and it was carried, " That the persons whose names were furnished by the District Land Officer as being the highest bidders at the auction at Hawera be declared the purchasers of the sections set opposite their names, and that licenses in the usual form be issued in their names." The Board then adjourned.
