SIR .JULIUS YOGEL RESIGNS.
The correspondence between Sir J. Yogel and the Ministry which will be laid on the table in a few days will somewhat surprise the country. Some time ago, in response to letters from Ministers, Sir -Julius Yogel sent in his resignation, which is now in the hands of the Government. Various conditions are however fixed. One is that he is to have the floating of all future loans for the Colony,, with two others, and to be paid there for one-twelfth per cent.; also, to be at liberty to continue the direction of the Agricultural Company, to go into Parliament, and to enter into any speculation he may please. The Government have, it seems, agreed to Vogel's conditions, but here comes the hitch : Sir Julius Yogel wants the onetwelfth per cent on the last loan as well as a payment on the conversion of the loans, while Ministers contend that he is only entitled to payment from the time his resignation as Agent-General is accepted. Sir Julius Vogei's last letter is a triumph of high art. He points out that he has been the saviour
>of the>Colouy, that on -the last occasion . of borrowing he saved it from inrpend1 ing ruin.
