Grahamstown, August 80 — 2 p.m. A rumour is just current hero to tho effect that three or four of the tribe that attacked the survey party have been shot by the Ngatikiri tribe, for whom Bayldon was surveying land, and which are at enmity with each other. It is probable that there is some truth in the report, as whent he steamer wasleavingPareoralast night, the Ngatikoi were getting into readiness to pursue them and take revenge. Tho young man Me Williams is in the hospital, being very feverish. The hospital surgeons first extracted the bullet from his thigh wound, which is not considered dangerous. His father intends to demand of Mr. Shoehan, at the parade of volunteers this afternoon, that speedy measures be takon to capture the treacherous natives.
