AUCKLAND— August 30.

Live Stock Market. — Messrs. Hunter and Nolan report that tho number of horses offered at their weekly solo was limited, but the demand Was spirited, and those entered wero almost without exception disposed of at improved values, and thero remains an unsatisfied enquiry. They quote — Hacks, £6 to £12 55. ; light harness horses, £25. At Newmarket the supply of all descriptions of cattle was limited. At the North Shore, ou the 25th August, they resumed their quarterly sales, and the muster of cattle was larger than was anticipated. Fat beasts were short of requirements. Well fatted wero keenly competed for at fully 40s. por 100 lbs. They quote — Dairy cows," £G to £9 ssr; weaued oalves, £1 ss. to £1 175.; yearlings, £2 2s. 6d. to £3 ; 2-year old steers, £4 to £4 10s. each. There was a fair muster of sheep at Newmarket, a good many having been held over for next week, hoping for finer weather. Tho stores were of indiffereut description. — Mr. Buckland reports that the market ou the 26th August was plentifully supplied with cows of a secondary class; prices were low. Store cattle in moderate numbers, with an irregular sale ou the whole. Tho prices of the last few weeks were barely sustained. Fat cattle in less than average numbers; 120 head peuued. Prices advanced 2s. 6d. the 1001 b. Fat calves scarce, and at extreme values. No store sheep offered. Fat sheep iv limited uumbers— 3so penned, but all heavy weight and good quality ; price steady at last week's values. Prices given were— Dairy cows, £5 to £8 ; heifers and cows, £3 los. to £5 10s. ; two and a half year old steers, £5 to £5 12s. 6d. ; calves, 30s. to 355. ; fat cattle, 375. 6d. to 425. Gd. the 100 lb. ; fat sheep, 4d. the lb.. Averages were — K. Taylor, 25 steers, £12 17s. Gd.; A. Stewart, 11 head, £10 35.; Murray, 9 Bteers, £13 25.; W. Gardiner, 24 steers, £10 25.; J. E. Nichols, 11 steers, £12 12s. Gd.

Produce, &c. — The following wholesale prices we take from the Cross of Saturday last: — Butter, 2s. per lb. ; cheese, Is. per lb. ; eggs, Is. 3d. per dozen; bacon, lljd. per lb. ; hams, Is. 2d. per lb. ; good salt butter, Is. 6d. per lb.
