A Special Meeting of the members of the Taranaki Agricultural Society will be held in the Institute, on Wednesday next, for the purpose of considering the most suitable place to hold the annual Cattle Show. It will be remembered that last month, at the quarterly meeting, held at Omata, tho aubjeot was introduced, but owing to such a small number of members boing present, it was decided that

a special meeting should be called in town, at which the subject could be discussed and filially settled. It id to be hoped that on Wednesday thore will bo a good muster from the country, as tho subject interests the farmer more than anyone. Mr. Counett, at the meeting referred to, stated that tho Provincial Government had offered to haud over St. Germain Square to the Society, and as the Council have voted £40, it is suggested, if tho site is approved of, to spend that sum in erecting a permanent yard for stalling the cattle and sheep in. It has long been a disputed opinion as to whether the town was the moat suitable placo for holding shows, and the Committee of the Society wishiug to give everyone an opportunity of being present, fixed upon tho town as the most central spot to hold the meeting. It is therefore to be hoped that those living in the couutry will make a point of attending, so that it may not be said afterwards that they exhibited an apathy in the matter. The advisability of raising the subscription will also be discussed, and as we have no doubt that other matters of interest to the farming community will be introduced, a full meeting will be desirable.
