THE following Clauses of the Town of New Plymouth Public Works Ordinance are published by order of tbe Town Board for public information :—: — No. 21. The Town Board shall have power to constrnct, repair, and maintain all roads, streets, bridges, footpaths, and drains within the said town, aud for that purpose to contract with and employ such persons as they may think fit. No. 22. If auy person shall obstruct, destroy, or in any manner interfere with auy such roads, bridges, drains, or other public works as last aforesaid without the consent in writing of tho Town Board or of their surveyor, such person shall pay to the said Board all expenses which may be incurred in reinstating and making good the work so altered, obstructed, or interfered with, and shall also forfeit any sum not exceeding £5 (Five Pounds). IVTHEREAS tho FURZE HEDGE M on the Main Road, and between the Paddocks of Mr. George Tate and Mr. Charles Callaghan, were set on fire on the night of Thursday, the 30th April, by which about fourteen chains of FENCING was destroyed, the above reward will be paid to any one giving information that will lead to the conviction of any ono who wilfully set fire to the same.
