HOSPITAL BOARD.
The quarterly meeting of the Board was held at the Hospital on Satorday last. Present; Mr. Crompton (chairman). Yen. Archdeacon Govett, Dr. Rawson, and Messrs. Elliot and Upjohn. Inspection of the Hospital.-' The members of the Board having inspeoted tho Hospital and the new building erected for the Lunatic Asylum, proceeded to business. The quarterly returns. — The CkaibUak read Dr. Rawson's quarterly return of the sick and iußane patients in the Hospital and Asylum, whioh showed that dnring that period there were ten in the Hospital and three in the Asylum ; also, that he had attended sixteen Europeans and fifty-nine natives, as oat-door patients. The accounts for the quarter.— The Chairvan said that when they got the sum due from Wellington, he should be about square. He had received the following donations towards the funds of the Hospital, some of whioh had been acknowledged :— Good Tern, plars, £4 75. ; compensation for stealing Mr. Broad's peaches, £l ; Westeyau congregation, £7 12s. 6d.; Mrs. Crompton (being the balance of money left over which was collected for the female ward), £1 4s. lOd. ; T. Hirst, Esq., £10 10s. ; total, £24 14s. 4d. He said that the amount owing was £G4 145., towards this sum he had a balance in hand of £44 19s. Id., and ezpeoted £12 10s. 3d. from Wellington shortly, whioh would make a total of £57 9s. od., — thus they would see that the aooouuts nearly balanoed at the end of the quarter. Death had removed three of the patients, and to some of the others it had been intimated that they were well enough to leave, so the number now in the Hospital had been reduced. The Board was thankful to those who contributed so liberally, and hoped that daring the present quarter they should have further donations to record. The accounts, as read, were then passed. Vote of thanks to Mr. T. Hirst.— Mr. TJpJoHS moved, and Dr. Rawso.v seoonded, " That the cordial thanks of the Hospital Board be tendered to Mr. T. Hirst for bis very handdome donation of £10 10s. to the fund* of the Hospital." Curried unanimously. Vote of titanic* to the Wesleyan Congregation. —Mr. P. Elliot proposed aud Mr. Upjohn seoonded, " That the thauks of the Hospital Board be tendered to the minister and congregation of the Wesleyan Churoh for their contribution to the funds of the Hospital." Carried unanimously. This beiug the whole of tho business, the Board adjourned.
