CANTERBURY.

April 13. — In the Supreme Court, at Canterbury, Andrew Jansen, for perjury, was discharged on a lejal point being raised by Mr. Joynt, his solicitor, that the evidence in which the prisoner swo-e falsely was not material to the issue of the ca«e in which it was given. Henry Hetinessy, for perjury, „ was sentenced to two years. The nomination for tho election of a member for Akaroa for the General Assembly took place on the 13th. On a show of hands, tho numbers were — Montgomery, 44; Pilliet, 7. Mr. Pilliet demanded a poll.
