THE VOLUNTEER PATROL.

According to notice a meeting of those who had volunteered to patrol the town at night, was held on Monday last at the Institute when Mr. T. King was voted to tho chair. Mr. Burton briefly stated that when the patrol wjs first formed it was understood the troops were on the eve of leaving the Province, bnt as they were going to stop, he thought the services of the patrol were unnecessary, he would therefore move, " That the duties of the Volunteer Town Patrol be suspended until notice was given by its commanding officer." — Carried. Mr. llitlke moved and Lieut. Rowan seconded, " That the Chairman be requested to forward a copy of the decision of this meeting to Jlajor Brown. 1 ' — Carried. Mr. Kulre said he thought it was their duty before separating to pass a vote of thanks to Lienf . (Rowan who had not recovered from his illness,) for his services in connection with the Town Patrol and would move a resolution to that effect. Mr. D. Atkinson seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously. Lieutenant Rowan briefly thanked the meeting, .stating that he considered it was the duty of the single men to assist ns much as possible in a case like the present, and he was thus more willing to give them all the assistance he was able. After a vote of thanks to the Chairman the meeting separated.
