To the Editor of the Taranakt Herat/d. Sin, — Having returned to this place a short time a»o from Auckland, where I had goue with my Company/of 57th Rdcrimont, I was very much surprised co find the grave.i of my comrades in that Regiment, who had fallen by .sickness and death of wounds on the field, or from ihe effect of those wounds afterwards, and buried at tho Cemetery, had not beon kopt in decent order, but where allowed to romain to all appearances, uncared for and disregarded, a mass of weeds, and iv somo instances too, furze are growing on them, which gives testimony to the truth of what I assort, fs not the Custodian of the Cometery paid to look after thoso graves and all others ? If not/ let me call upon all who are here that have served in tho 57th Regiment, and any other 3 who may be* pleased help, to come forward with a small subscription aud pay the man in charge to remove this nuisance $0 disgusting, and let the graves of ortr Comrades appear 'a.s those of English soldiers should do, " Christian lika."
