000 , H.M. steam sloop Pantaloon (screw), 11 guns, — we learn from our contemporary the' Southern Cross — has been commissioned by Commander William Robert Hobson, and was to have sailed from Plymouth Sound, for the Cape of Good Hope and New Zealand, on the 17th September. We have not
seen any such notification in any of the English naval papers ; but we are inclined to credit the statement from the fact that the Pantaloon is a small sloop of the Cordelia class (580 tons, 150 horse-power), and in all probability the relief of that ship. The Pantaloon was built at Devonport, and this is, we believe, her first commission. Commander Hobson cannot fail to meet a most cordial welcome in Auckland, as well in honor of the memory of his gallant father, as in acknowledgment of his own high deservings. — New Zealander.
