The season's tea ciop is scant, and for the 8 oi 10 chops of second-class congous that left Canton this week, the holders are asking extremely high prices ; the scarcity of tea is not confined to the Canton district only, but the expoit from all China will be twenty-five per cent, less than last year. Not that the crops are less but that they have been bought in advance, by Jhe agents travelling for the Russian market. Euiopean fabrics aie in good demand. The schoDiiei Mazeppa, belonging to Messrs Jai dine, Matheson, and Co., had been totally lost off Swatow, and all hands perished. She is supposed to have capsized in a squali.
