CANTERBURY.
A grand ploughing, match, under the auspices of the newly established Farmers' Club, took place on tbe 15th ult., some five miles from Christclrarch. In the" Ist class— pair horse teams— there were 14 competitors, and and altogether there .were2l ploughs, 16 of which were Barrowman's, whose make gained all the prizes. To bnetal the roads, means (at least so I'm told) That the Government on them should lay down their , ■ gold. BelUmelul on trial the best might be found 1p set up a toll and make bad .places sound ! ;
