Mr. BM'» complained of Mr. Oxenbam for permitting his 6herp to wnnder nt large in tho public thoroughfares on the 4th instant.
The defendant questioned the complainant a> to whore the sheep were, wiih the view of showing that although the sheep might have been trcitpatsing, they were not on the public roads, but only lllicited that although the sheep ware part of the time on his (ihe complainant' 6) land, they were olso in Frulford and Dawson streets.
Tliiro were upwards ot 100 sheep. * The defendant urged nothing ' n mitigation— and the Resident Magistrate fined him 50s. and casts, observing thnt tins was not a first offence, nnd that bo thought it a fit cine to mnks an example of.
