The council met this afternoon nt 3. The minutes ot the last meeting having been read by the clerk,

PROVINCIAL APPOINTMENTS.

A communication from His Honor wns lead, laying before the Council the Provincial Appointments made by him since the la>t sittings uf the Council.

Two communicdtions to His Honor the Superintendent fiom the Central Government, relating to the land, were laid on ihe table by direction of His Honor, ihe substance of which Will be found in another column.

The SpßAktß announced to the Council thas he had since the last sitting sppointtd Christopher William Richmond, li«q. to be Clerk of Council.

And the Council declares it« option to accept tl»e proposed lease for tho extended term of seven yenri. NOTICES OF MOTION*. Mr. Burton gave notice that on the 3rd of Decuiiibur he should move that the appointment of Christopher William' Richmond to be Clerk of Council be confirmed. Mr. CitiLMAN stated that on the 3rd of December, or at the next subsequent sitting, he should move that the Superintendent be recommended to authorise the Harbor Master to employ ten men at. £1 per week, the men tv have the time at their own disposal when not employed in the boats. Mr. Hurton gave notice that on the 3rd of December, or the next subsequent meeting, he should move for a return, by the Harbor Master, of ilie expenses incurred in landing and shipping ccrgo for the schooners Rapid and Camilla, and of the amount receivable by the Department for that service. CATTLE TIIP.SPASS. Mr. Pahius fjfive notice that on the 3id of December, or at the nexi subsequent meeting, he should ask leave to introduce a bill to make provision for the imp»u;idi '^ of cattle, and for the summary recovery of compunction for damage done by cattle trespassing.
