The minutes of the* pioceoditigs at the last meeting having been read,

His Honor the Superintendent gave his assent to the Ordinance appropriating tho Revenue.

Mr, cnir.MAN moved the re-committal of the Provincial Officers Appointment Bill.

Mr. Bundle seconded the motion.

Mr. Goon was appointed chairman, and two clauses were added to the bill — one giving to the chief officer of police the power of discharging men under his command — the other giving the harbour m uter the same power in his department.

Mr. Go.jd moved the first reading of the Cattle Trespass Bill.

Mr. Rundle seconded the motion. The bill was then read a fust time.

[The principle of the measure is that persons owning cattle shall be liable for damages, w' ether the land of the injured party be fenced or not fenced. The bill will probably receive some amendments of form in committee. The second reading was appointed for next Saturday, or the next subsequent silting of the council.]

The council met this afternoon at 3.

Mr. Parris moved that ihe protest of I. N. Watt, Esq., against the memorial to the Governor, in relation to Mr. Cooper, inserted on the books of the Council, be read

The council subsequently went into committee on this mutter, nnd Mr. Chilman was appointed chairman.

A long and desultory conversation then took place, which was terminated by ' Mr. Parius giving nolice that he voule] on Saiutday, of the next subsequent sitting of the council, move that the protest before mentioned shall be again read.

It was then moved that Messrs. Watt, Vickers and Chilman be appointed a select committee to make arrangements for the accommodation of the council, ,

Mr. Chilman then moved the adjournment of the council till 3 o'clock on Saturday next.
