DEATH OF THE HON. CONSTANTINE AUGUSTUS DILLON.
It i« our melancholy du-y this week to record t'tft d-ath of the Hon. C. A. Dillon, by drowning, which occurred on Saturday evening last, in it« tempting to ford the Wairan river. Tba circumgtances which attended the lamented gentleroan'a death are as follows :— Mr. Dillon araompanlej by bit sou, (a lad about t«n year* of age), N- 6. Mr. Fanley roie above the hone, in the stream, and tried to reach tho bank by swimming, but not succeeding, he was carried down to the horse, which he laid hold of, and was brought on ihnre by It. The body of Mr. Dillon was found on Monday marning, by G. Duppa, Kiq., thrown on the shingle nearly two miles from where the accident acenrred. The deceased gentleman wai the fouith son of the late, and the brother of the present Viscount Dillon, and bad servrd Hor Majesty both in the Navy and Army. Subsequently while serving in the 7th Diagoous, Mr # Dillon actad a* aid-dc-oamp to Lord Durham, In Cimda, and to Lord Ebrlngton, when Lord Lieu, enant of Ireland, in this colony he had filled the office of Civil Secretary to the Government, and 'ot the time of bit death was Lind Commissioner of this province.-— Examiner, April 23. j
