Gold. — Wo learn thnt Messrs. Connell »'iil Hiding have received from Mr. Heale, of the Ban ler Copper Mines, between 17 and 13 ounces of pure frold in ingots, the produce of a quantity of auriferous tpiaitz and sand from the Auckland Gold Field which tliey sent to Mr. Ileale last week to be smelted. The following news from the diggings is extracted from a letter of Mr. Hansard, the gold bro ker to the ' New Zealnnder :—

" Tli « Bon Accord, which artlverl tul<s morning from Corocnandcl, brought from the diggings tbrcc of tlic personi who have been for some time pro 1 * speciing or digging thcro. Auction Sale of Sheep & Cattlk. — On Wednesday last (March 30) the sheep and cattle imported by the William Hyde, were sold at Newmarket by Mr. Joseph Newman, at prices indicating the remunerating demand here for such stock. 1 00 wethers were sold for 15s. each, and SOU ewes at 18a. each, and there can be no doubt that a much larger number would have brought equally good prices. 100 head of cattle were sold at from £4 15s to £5 per head, prices which must be deemed satisfactory, consideiing that though the cattle were of an excellent description, they were not in very good condition, having so lately been landed. [We observe from a letter signed "T. Henry," in the New Zealander of the Ist April, that the price

of sheep in the Sydney market was from ss. to 9a, ench.]
