TO THE ELECTORS OF THE PROVINCE OF NEW PLYMOUTH. ipENTLEMEN,— The first act which \3T you are called upon to perform under the New Constitution is the election of a Superintendent. Tho limits of a brief ad Iress will Jnot permit a detail of the duties <o be imposed upon that officer ; but it may be snfely asserted that they will be varied, important, difficult to execute with entire satisfaction to the public, and sufficient to occupy all the time and attention of the person who ventures to undertake them. I am, nevertheless, prepared to ofi'er you my services as Superintendent. Though I may bo deficient in ability, I possess tho needed industry and resolution for the office ; nnd should you elect me, will devote myself entirely to tho work of gtvin£ cnerrry and effect to those Representative Institutions which me the sole guarantee of good government. I have the honour to be, Gentlemen, Your most obedient servant. J. T. WICKSTEED. 1 Omnta, December C, 1552.
