ARMS ORDINANCE.
Passed Nov. 12, 18 Ki. After reciting 'that provision bad been made for the imnortalioh and sale of arms, gunpowder, and other warlike stores, and'that it was expedient that restriction should hlso be placed' on the removal, making, an! repairing the ' same, enacts that~lt shall not be lawful for any'person to< icniove, oi cause to f;e rcinnvrd, from any ono part of the colnny of New Zealand to, &ny other pmt, other by'inland caninf,i> or coastwise, any arms ur other wailtlie stores, or any gunpoWdcr> exxeeding the wn'h'ht of 21b , without a licence for tcmo'viuc nnd carrying Uio iiuhc, granted oy some justice of the p'c.x'e. Provide.-;, that thcoidinancc shall not be construed lo prevent any person fiom cailying arms for the defence ol his person or for sporting. It aho enacjts that— , Kvcry jx-ison who shall remove any such arms, gunpowder, or other warlike stores, contrary to the provisions of this ordinance shall, for every such b'flcn'ce, forfeit nnd pay any sum not exceeding £50, nor less than £5, to be recovered iv a summary ivoy. It also enacts that — It shall be lawful for any jusiice of the peace, upon infoimaliou on (itth, to search for and seize, or to grant a warrant to any person to search for and seize, ond for any officer of the nnvy on full pny, harbour master, ofliccr of customs, police olliccr or constaUlc, or lor any other person nctiti# in his or their aid and assistance; without such information on oalh, to search for and seize all such nrms, gunpowder, and other wailikc stores, which ahaH be in progre»s ol tcmoval, or shall be removed without Mich licence, or without producing such licence, on demand of any Hitch person. Auc' all such aims, gunpowder, and oihcf w.uliku stores, so to be buizcJ shall be fori'oucd to her Majesty. t It also enacts that — No person shall make, construct, fimeild or repair nny aims, gunpowdi-r, or other warlike stoics, •vilhotit a licence to be for that purpose granted under the authority of the Govcinnr. It also litstly enacts Ihat — Every person who shall make,construct, amend, or repair any arms, gunpowder, or other warlike stoics, without having obtained such licence, shall, for evciy such od'ence, forfeit and pay my hum not exceeding £50, not less than £5. Piovides that this ordinance shall not extend to prevent the removal, making, or repairing of arms, gunpowder, or other warlike stores belonging io her Mnjesty,
