Permission to hold a swimming' carnival in its baths on February 20 has been granted the Geraldine Swimming Club by the South Canterbury Swimming Centre, -which lias also advised the club by telephone (hat if it desires, it may include in its programme u South Canterbury championship race—either (he men's 220 yards tree-style title, or a women's 100 yards or 130 yards.
The decision to hold a swimming carnival was arrived at, at Wednesday evening’s meeting of the club, over which Dr. G. W. Curtis presided, and after some discussion it was decided to write to the South Canterbury Swimming Centre seeking permission to hold a carnival on February 26, if that date was available.
The question of lighting the baths ami holding the carnival in the evening; was the subject of some discussion, and it was eventually decided that the secretary make inquiries as to cost of lighting. If the carnival is held in the evening, the time was fixed at 7 p.m., and if in the afternoon, at
3 p.m. Messrs V. Simmons, J. Webb, W. H. Jackson, ami the secretaries were appointed a committee. It was decided that the charges for admission be Is and Gd.
