PRESENTATIONS.
MILS MEEK HONOURED. On the occasion of a social in connection with the Temuka Presbyterian Sunday School on Tuesday evening, an opportunity was taken to make a presentation to Mrs A. Meek, who has for many years been prominently identified with Sunday School work, as a teacher, but more particularly in preparing the pupils for the annual concert. Mr A. J. Davey (Sunday School ; superintendent), who presided, eulo- ■ gised the excellent services that Mrs j Meek had rendered in training the i children for the annual Sunday i School concert. He referred to the patience which she exercised and to the wonderful command she had over her little charges. The Sunday School was under a deep debt of gratitude to her, and felt that her services should be recognised. She had performed a very difficult task in the work that had been thrust upon her. The Rev. H. R. Fell, Mr A. Betting, Mr J. L. White, and others spoke in appreciation of Mrs Meek’s services. Mr Davey then presented Mrs Meek with a handsome silver soup service in a leather case. Mrs Meek, in returning thanks for the gift, said her work was a labour of love, and brought its own reward. The presentation came as a complete surprise to her. Had she known that such a movement was afoot, she ventured to say she would not have been present. Her work had been made easy by the number of willing helpers she had. She thanked those who had spoken ' for the kind words they had given utterance to. She could assure them that she would ever treasure their handsome gift. (Loud applause).
