MILFORD LAGOON.
MEETING OP EXECUTIVE. . Held, in the Fire Brigade Hall last evening, the meeting of the executive committee of the Milford Lagoon Association was presided over by Mr T.. Greelish (president), anti was attended by His Worship the Mayor (Mr T. E. Gunnion), Messrs E. O. Shaw, D. O’Connor, W. Phillips, J. Fisher, W. Seeler, W. Lawlor, F. Williams, W. Mihaka, and the secretary (Mr F. Martin). A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr D. M. Gorman was passed. Mr Mihaka .stated that, although & number of the Maoris might be in Christchurch on the day of the picnic, the matter of roasting the bullock was arranged for. It was decided that the ground committee make an inspection of the grounds during the coming week-end. The secretary of the Temuka Municipal Band wrote accepting the committee’s offer of £s~ss to play at the picnic.—Received. Following a discussion arising but of a report made by Mr Fisher, In connection with, the arrangements for the proposed tug-of-war contests at the picnic, a notice of motion was submitted to the effect that in view of the tug-of-war championships being held in Christchurch on the same date, this attracting most of the tug-of-war teams to that centre, the proposed competitions be abandoned. The president, secretary, and Messrs Gunnion and O’Connor were appointed a committee to canvass the town and district for support.
