TEMUKA DISTRICT NEWS. A few of the , local wheat .crops have not yet been cut, and a few aro hi stack but the majority are still in stook awaiting ttie mill. The thres'hing mills are working, from daylight to dark, but do no I seem able to cope with the work offering. It is difficult 'to understand, why so many farmers in the district are anxious to thresh out of the stook, w'hen prices are so low, as it would naturally be thought that they would stack.' The wheat market is very weak, and the mills seem to have sufficient supplies on hand and are not inclined to buy. Farmers have been holding off, but now appear .'inclined to meet the market, and dispose of immediate delivery lines at current rates. are reported a'l. 5/6 for good mifling .quality. Ijnnieddate delivery Hunters are enquired for and 5/8 is being offered with a fair amount of business passing. Oats are dull and are hard to quit at more than 2/4 for Cartons and'2/2 for Algerians. 'Chaff is firm at late rales and several sales are reported at up to £ll 2s 6d for good bright quality. Partridge peas have eased and are changing hands freely at .6/9 for No. 1 and 6/4 for f.a.q. Grass seed is steady at late rates.'
