SCHOOL CHOIRS
AND FOUR-VOICE COMPETITIONS Enquiry is now being made about the competition proposed to be held - by'the : Temuka- Compe tuitions .Society, for choirs from the district schools. Mr B. Hughes (secretary) expects the music to arrive from England this week. It is expected that at least six choirs will be necessary to make a success of the competition, such choirs to’consist of twenty voices, but as there are a number of schools in the district, where the attendance would not permit of a choir being formed, it is .proposed to hold a competition for four voices in unison for their benefit . For the choir competition the promoters feel assured of the entry of two choirs from both the Teinuka and Geraldine District High Schools, and one from Milford, and lin addition there are the Clandeboye, 'Orari, Pleasant Point, Washdyke,- Watt-Lowry ’ and Winchester Schools, making a total of nine with sufficient attendance to enter a. choir. For the four-voice competition, there are eleven schools that could enter, viz. Hilton, Orari Bridge, Orari tlorge, Orton, Pleasant Valley Rangitata Station, Seadown, iTe Awa, Waitohi Plat, -Upper Waitohi and Woodbury. It is suggested that the practice adopted at Home for the judge to igive a written criticism of eacli performance, instead of a verbal criticism, will be followed at the ■competitions.
