TEMUKA TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

UO.-Utl> OF MAN'AGISIiS. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Board of Managers of the Temuka Technical School, was held on Tuesday evening. Present; Messrs G. B, Cartwright (chairman), M. 11. McLeod, P. Sanders, G. W, Armi(age, G. .Thomson, and the director. Mr J. T, Smart. After formal business had been disposed of, the chairman reported that some of the classes were winding up that night. Mr H. P. Harte was putting in the twenty-fourth evening of the term, and they intended to go over to the class room and listen to his address to the pupils. Mr 'Harte had also completed his twenty-first year as instructor in wool-classing at Temuka, the long term being satisfactory both to the farmers and the pupils, and to the Board of Managers. It was a splendid record of teaching so many young men in the art of wool-classing. It was the board’s intention to present Mr Harte with a small memento of his twenty-one years’ service. The dressmaking class also closed that clay. It was formerly conducted by Miss Brown and latterly Mrs Applegarth, who had done excellent work. Eight certificates were to be presented to wool-classing students, and he noted that one was for the fifth year, which was a good record to put In at the class. The director and he had to report on the shearing classes. Mr McCully had offered the use of his shed and would find sheep for a start, and others had signified their willingness to provide sheep, namely Messrs M. Guild, W. Lyon, J. Topham, J. Bisdee, S. Trumper and the speaker. There were others who when approached would come, to their assistance. There were already live applications in from pupils, and if they advertised he was sure they would get other pupils as well. CORRESPONDENCE,

Mr F. C. Roberts wrote acknowledging the letter of sympathy forwarded to him by the Board of Managers.—'Received. VISITORS’ REPORT.

The visitors, Messrs Thomson and Cartwright, reported on visiting the different classes during the month. Mr Harte was carrying on his work in the wool-classing in an exceedingly satisfactory manner. The students had every confidence in their instructor, and he was well satisfied with the class, -which was larger than they had had for a year or so. Mr Harte had pointed out that if they had electric light installed for next year, it would be a big improvement. The class was well equipped with plenty of wool of different grad'es. The carpentry class was also a very flue class. There was not a pupil but-was. doing good and useful work. Mr Roberts was a very keen instructor who watched his pupils in a careful and instructive way. The students were doing practical tradesman’s work —inlaid, fitting and joinery—and their instruction would he handy and useful for work on a farm, such as making gates, building sheds, etc. They felt confident that the work they were doing would be very useful to the young fellows when they grew into men. In the dressmaking classes everything was very satisfactory. A machine expert had recently overhauled the machines, which were now in perfect order. The tables chairs and lighting were satisfactory in every way, and the work was going on very smoothly. The visitors’ report was adopted. SHEEP SMEARING. It was decided to commence the sheep shearing class on Monday. 25th October, and finish on Saturday, 13 th November. The matter of appointing an instructor was left to the chairman and director. An adjournment was then made to the wool-classing room. You don’t experiment when you lake “NA'ZOL” for coughs and colds. “NAZOL” is a commonsensc remedy, and never lails.
