THE Temuka Leader. THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 1926. NEWS OF THE DAY.

There were 13 degrees of frost registered at Temuka yesterday morning, and 9 degrees on Tuesday morning. There are no basketball games for to-day, but a practice game will be held at the DomaJiu commencing at 2 o’clock sharp. On Tuesday night 14 degrees of frost were registered in Geraldine, and 6 degrees on the Downs, each registration being the severest frost recorded for three years. Tuesday and yesterday were both cold and raw, with little or no sunshine.

Coincidence? On Monday evening, while the Temuka Fire Brigade meeting was in progress, a picture fell from the wall, Mr G. Lawry remarking that there would be a fire that evening. As is known, as members were leaving the Brigade Room,.the alarm Reports state that cigarette papers of any descrUption are practically unprocurable in Timaru.
