FIRE BRIGADE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Temuka Amateur Fire Brigade wa s held last evening in the Brigade Room. There wae a full attendance of members, Captain J. Henry presiding, and Mr J. Allfrey carrying out his duties as secretary. The balance-sheet in connection with the annual ball was read, and adopted, and accounts amounting to £27 5s 9d were passed for payment. , The secretary was instructed to write to the Lyttelton Fire Brigade acknowledging their invitation to their annual banquet. The secretary and Firemen Martin, La wry and Cain were appointed a committee to make arrangements fon a social to be given to the lady helpers who assisted at the annual ball. Fireman Ives offered to provide music for same.
Captain Henry reported that all the hose on the three reels at the North End Station had been repaired and tested, and the patching had proved satisfactory. Captain Henry reported that the next demonstration of the Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigade Association will take place at Waimate on Labour Day. The secretary was instructed to write to Captain Boyd, secretary to the above association, for a programme with a view to entering a team in the demonstration.
