At the Timaru Supreme Court yesterday, Leonard Charles Haskell appeared on two charges of attempting to break and enter the premises of Alston’s Ltd. and J. W. Souter and Co., with intent to commit a crime. Accused was not represented by counsel, and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. At the Canterbury District Committee meeting on Tuesday last, the following dates for race meetings for the Canterbury district, 192627, were approved:—'Geraldine Racing Club, September 30th and October Ist; South Canterbury Jockey Club, December 10th and 11th; Ashburton County Racing Club (autumn meeting to be selected); Waimate Racing Club, March 17th; South Canterbury Jockey Club, April 2Sth and 30th; Waimate District Hunt, July 21st;. South Canterbury Hunt, July 23rd.
