LADIES’ PIPE BAND.
AT GERALDIXE. The fame of the Australian Ladies’ Pipe Band attracted a good number la the Town Hall, Geraldine, last evening. Nor were the optimistic anticipations of the patrons unrealised, for the ladies li> ferally played their way into the hearts of nil assembled. It is not merely talk and advertisement that has commended them to Xew Zealanders, but sheer absolute It is not idle flattery to say that never before have the pipes been played at Geraldine so thrillingiy as they were last evening. It is true they have been heard at other , times over and over again. We have hitherto admired their melodies in a perfunctory way and then passed on to something more sophisticated. Now, perhaps, for the first time, we have heard them played with inspiring conviction, and 10l the beauty of pipe music stands naked before us. Aphrodite newlyrisen from the foam. It is not an exaggeration to say .'hat the girls, by wonderful unison in their playing, have created on the minds of their audiences a profound and respectful impression.
