PERSONAL.
Mr and Mrs J. Wordsworth, Geraldine, left Auckland on Tuesday, en route for the Old Country, where they Intend to spend the,summer. Writing on 27th February, the Home correspondent of the Press mentioned that Miss E. Twomey, of Temuka, was among the recent callers at the High Commissioner’s Office, London. Misses B. Bartlett and E. Hitchlugs are spending a short holiday in Geraldine, being the guests of Captain Bartlett. They will ho returning to Christchurch on Tuesdaynext. Mr C. F. Bunz, one of the pioneer musicians of Christchurch, died on Sunday. The Rev. W. A. Hay is spending a few days, at Peel Forest, prior to taking up his appointment at the Durham Street Church, Christchurch.
A cable message from Paris states that Lord Carnarvon died on Thursday nVorniugf. (Previous messages stated that Lord Carnarvon was suffering from blood poisoning, the result of a scratch). The Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister for Education will spend the week-end in Timaru. Mr T. D. Burnett has received word that at 9 o’clock on Monday morning he will leave Timaru for Temuka and Geraldine when he will visit the Temuka and Geraldine district High Schools, and the Milford and Opihi primary schools. Mr Burnett is anxious to see the 50-year-old Milford School building replaced by a new one, and to see much-needed additions made at three other schools named, which are overcrowded. The Health Department has condemned the Milford School building.
