Geraldine batted first-and were disposed of for IDI, Beechey 29, Kerr 20, 'and Harper 13, being the only ones able to make much headway against the bowling, which was a much better class than the local bowlers were used to. The visitors started badly, losing three wicftets for eight runs, but Bain (70) a-nd Butler- (15) saved the situation, though- both were very lucky The- innings closed for 203, A. B. Temple and Harper bearing the brunt of the bowling. The local men did much better in the -second. timings, making 196. A., B, Temple played a fine forcing innings for 58, and Kerr 35, Harper 33, and Beechey 16, all batted well against the bowling of Evans and Bain, both ex-Canterbury reps. • The ’ visitors were left - with 95 runs to; get iiy an hour and a quarter, and ; again started badly, losing three wickets;, for seven runs, but two fine- innings by Gorrie and Bvans saw the runs-bit off in threequarters .of an - hour, thus winning by five wickets. • The visitors continued their innings, losing nine wickets for 167 when time was called.

The weather both days was perfect and this most enjoyable game was a fitting conclusion to a good season’s cricket;
