OBITUARY.

A Sydney cable message reports the death of Henry Lawaon, the poet, whoa© writing* are so wellknown. He died suddenly. The death is announced at Christehurch, of Archbishop Stocker, aged 82, formerly of Invercargill.

The funeral of the lata Hon. C. A. C. Hardy took place on Saturday at the Kafori Cemetery, Wellington, where the body was cremated, in accordance with the deceased's wish. The service *t St. Paul's ProCathedral was by a large number of legislators. The Masonic Grand Lodge was represented by Deputy Grand and Provincial Grand Masters of the Wellington Provincial District. The service was conducted by Bishop Sprott, assisted by the Ven, Archdeacon.
